In business since 1973, Ron King is widely recognized as a superb
professional photographer and has won numerous awards over the
years. His work has appeared in People magazine, among other
national and regional publications, and can be found on the
Internet and in galleries. Born in the small town of Manson on
Lake Chelan in Eastern Washington, Ron is a graduate of Washington
State University where he studied anthropology. He began his
photographic career in Wenatchee in 1973 and, in 1981, moved to
the Mount Vernon, Washington area, where he has since owned and
operated a studio.
During this period, he also began the serious
study of jazz piano, something he had been interested in since his
days at college, and subsequently has established himself as a
busy and popular professional musician.
Ron served many years on the state Board of
Directors of the Professional Photographers of Washington. He is a
member of numerous local organizations involved with business and
the arts, as well as a founding member of the Wednesday Group, a
philanthropic organization and sort of local "think tank."
In 1995, Ron developed an interest in adapting
his computer to use in photography, first restoring old photos,
retouching and enhancing images, but later actually creating
paintings. Over the years, it has become a favorite and
spectacular tool in his business.
Adding to his artistic and business endeavors,
Web design has also become an integral part of his business.
Finding a way to integrate his photography
skills, artistic abilities, well- practiced knowledge about
computer design and his love for music, in early 2000 Ron
co-founded a web business called
worldjazzscene.com, which is an
online gift shop selling jazz recordings and educational
materials.
Today, Ron has more fun than ever - creating art,
taking photos, helping people and performing on the piano -
indeed, making life in the technical age just a little more
interesting for everyone. |

"As a fellow artist and friend, I took it upon myself to
submit an addition to the biography of a man I can’t help
but respect, no matter how hard I try not to."
Do not be fooled by the face, Ron King is masquerading
as a civilized man. It is a fact that he is a man who is
educated, successful in business, and highly intellectual.
He is a dedicated philanthropist and collector of
interesting people. He is also a man of informed opinions
and fearless deviation from the mainstream. In fact, I
believe he thrives on it just to make others crazy.
Ron King is a master of debate, though he often wins by
artful manipulation of sarcastic humor and is not above the
use of practical jokes. Despite this, he is still one of my
favorite conversationalists. He is also one of my favorite
artists.
A successful professional musician, photographer, and
digital artist, his art in all of its forms reveals an
instinctive emotional reflex that lies beyond simple vision
or hearing. Ron creates with easy grace images of great
voice and character. Reflected in both the man and his work
is the artful bridge between reality and what his unique
vision sees just beyond.
Be wary civilized ones, Ron King strives to entangle
you in his mission of reaching beyond what you see, tickles
your boundaries of perception, and leaves you somehow more
knowledgeable than you were before.
Thank you, Ron. Anne M. Volmering
